Helllooooo I guess some of us might have gone through this situation before..... OPT visa expires around May and H1 wont get approved until Oct... My question is how does companies that you are working for treat that gap??? Can you still work for them and be a full time student too or you have to stop working??? Your suggestions and experience sharing will be well appreciated..... Thanks in advance

I think you have either join some school and remain in status until your H1 is approved and can start working from October 1st. If you go to USCIS or any lawyers web site you can get information about H1 Visa. H1 Visa application opens in April. Do some research. you will get answer for your questions.

I have been in the same situation last september. My OPT expred on July 11th and H1 was valid only from OCT 1ST. Since your OPT expires on May and H1 starts at around Oct 1st. You have a grace period of 60 days (not 2 months). After the 60th day, either you have to start school or leave the country and you can re-enter the country after OCT 1ST. During this 60 days, you CANNOT work, unless you can have them pay you under the table. I was here for 60 days after my OPT expired and then I just went back to nepal and came back on OCT 6TH. Hopefully this helps!!!
