Do you need a visa to go to Nepal? If so, Nepal does not issue visa on a travel document. You will need to have at least a Re-entry permit which is issued to those who have LPR (Green Card). I am assuming that you have a US travel document.

If you received the TD because you sought asylum in the US (and are a Nepali), don't go to Nepal... can't come back.

If you travel to nepal on a Nepalese passprt, it may not matter, provided your status in the US allows you to visit Nepal AND return to the US.

Nmaharjan,Although you can travel out of the US and enter the country on a Travel Document, I have heardfrom many people that you will be asked many questions at the entry point while entering the country. They might (and have) also check your SSN history trying to find out if you have ever workedwhile you were not allowed to do (Not trying to say that they certainly will, but have to a friend of mine, and they might). So, be prepared for every question, like where you went to college, whenyou graduated, when started working etc and carry all the documents with you, just in case.Good Luck to you!

It depends on the Officer checking your documents at the entry point and how well you answers his questions. Again, I am not trying to scare you; I am just putting down some realities many people have encountered while travelling on a Travel Document. All people might not have experienced these situation and I sincerely hope and pray that you be one of them. You might also have read this in Sajha few months back that a Nepali guy who had a US Citizen wife was entering the country on a Travel Permit; at the entry point, for some reasons, the authorities grew suspicious on him and called his wife; the marriage was a paper marriage and the wife admitted on the phone with the authorities that it was only a paper marriage. You can imagine what might have been with the guy-God Bless Him.

This is another reality; but these are very rare and I was just trying to give you some realities. However, asking lenghty questions is quite in practise whie travelling on Travel Document.

So, if you do not have to, don't travel, that's what I suggest.
