Hello friends, actually i got this idea in my mind about sharing idea and help to the people to get support in system admin job. It will be more appropriate for those who haven't got much real time experience. The problem might looks small to us but it can create great impact on jobs. Lets us share problem here and some pro can help them out..
Problem related to any Linux and solaris, VMware , AIX etc.

What you guys think about it?

I really appreciate your thought guyz. I know you guyz are busy but atleast we can schedule some free time and spend those time for people who actually need it...We can organize some way to share knowledge with each other. @aalukojhol sathi...i think we can connect through viber, where we can take screen shot and share the ticket in work...if the problem need a lot of time then we can donate some funds for people who are contributing their time for the problem. I feels its nice way of getting help as well.. do you have any suggestions sathi haru?

I am against posting tickets.
If you post tickets then there is no scope of learning.I have been working as system admin for about 4 years now.If you work on ticket and get stuck somewhere in the middle then it might be a good idea to get help on the portion where you get stuck.Besides simply posting ticket won't ensure you will get feasible solution to you question.
If we post ticket and get answers, we won't understand the logic and concept behind it.
Don't aim to survive the first 6 months. Think long term and learn more.Get fired if you have to.There are tons of system admin jobs.

This is a good idea. Though not a sys. admin , I am in Networking field. What exactly does your daily role include as sys. admin, just curious? Like what are main responsibilities.

Thanks Guyz for sharing your views and experience with us.. I think sathi @Tihar is absolutely true for long term future expectation. How about we discuss on the new tool in system admin jobs? We can create some blogs on sajha for problem that occurs alot of time in real world. but you might ask me a question like you don't find in google?....My answer is 'Yes' but sometime its hard to track the problem using google.
We need to create some plans and share some information for fresh graduate regarding the real time scenario because they are new to the real world of System administrations work..

Just my views : Google hangout might be the good solution for any problem, any documents or notes can be shared thru Google drive. If someone is busy, then other can help incase of emergency too , I am willing to share my notes or anything , I am a newbie too, ending first project in a month or so . If anybody like to go with this please inbox me here or post other better ideas , thanks everybody

Hello All,

I have been reading about this as i am also in the same boat.

right now am doing training in Linux / solaris from desi agency. I wanted to know from fellow new sys admin who have just starting the job, what are the areas should one focus on for the market.

I just had training in Linux for about 45 days and taught very less of Solaris. Any ideas about which areas to focus on would really help me in preparing for the market..

thanks to all for initiating this post.. please let me know if we can create any group for fellow new bie..

Hello Guys,

I had been thinking of this and I am glad you guys are already working on it. I also wanted to have a group and do some presentations , discussions over the weekends etc. I also have a domain registered related to sysadmins . If you guys are interested then we can build a forum around that domain, have a blog, do some video tutorials and drive it with posts, QnA, tutorials etc. I have 10+ yrs. of Linux Administration experience (Centos / RHEL ). We can also do a mailing list, where everyone can share news, questions, ideas etc. I would not take the facebook route. We can have a Facebook group for promotions etc.. but probably not for discussions.

Thanks

@TrainingGuy ---Well sathi...first thing "Don't worry too much". Its always hard to get into new things when you start. It takes time and work load given to you when you get the job. Its hard to tell on which linux flavor you are going to work because you are not sure where your luck ganna take you. Just try to learn the basics and get family with different terms like SAN, NAS, VMware,VCS,Try to memories different server model, LUNS, Nagios, Netapp, puppet,chef,cfengine...so that it will help you when you talk with vendors. It will give you some confidence in the beginning.

@nishant322--I really like your proposal. With your permission lets use your blog..If you can share your domain, It will be great my friend. We can upload our documents and screen shot so that others can take the benefit from it. I agree with mailing list, we can use outlook express and schedule our free time and arrange meeting every weekend. The result might bring some professionalism and help to those people who actually need to know the real time scenario. We can also assign work as team to do our own project to those member who are interested.

Thanks KNepali,
I will have a Discussion platform ready by tonight. Any of you guys have suggestions on which forum software to use , that would be great. I am thinking of using Simple Machines Forum and MailMan (GNU) for mailing list management. This will serve as the starting point and then we can work together and make plans on proceeding further. Once the mail man is ready I will give you guys the link to sign up for the mailing list.

If you have any questions or suggestions on how to proceed further in the mean time, please let me know, but i think mailing list is the first place to start.
Thanks

Guys ,
I have now created a mailing list, where you can sign up with your email address and then whenever you send an email to the list, everyone will get a copy. Next step we can create a discussion board , blog, tutorials etc.

http://www.asksysadmins.com/mailman/listinfo/asksysadmins

Let me know if you run in to any issues.

Thanks
