I have just recently started to buy and sell stock, I am doing more research on my own but if any of you have been doing investment for a period of a time and know how to do the research and investment I would like to learn from you or if you can tell me how to look at the trend and when or which to sell or buy.

DOW jones just hit 21000, for this reason I will not buy any stock rather selling them.

Stocks Over $10 -->

NASDAQ:GILD (working on clinical trials for hep b cure drug)
NASDAQ:AAOI (may work with Google fiber optics)
NASDAQ:BLDR (guesswork on my part...u know the reason..Trump & construction projects)

Stock below $10 -->
NASDAQ:KTOS (trump is proposing larger defense bill; drone technology investment by DoD is expected)

Do you see future of snapchat? It was too hyped look like it is going to be bearish. Any good stock for long term investment? Apart from google, amazon where per stock price is too high.

I am also a newbie. I invested some money on index fund. I think if you don't wanna spend more time on doing research and still wanna be on safe side than index funds are good. Look for VFINX, VFIAX, VTSAX and other index fund provided by Vanguard or Fidelity.

Yep there was a news , some one invested 5 k in Snapchat become millionaire. Definetly hyped.

Extreme case:
Minimum price (for insiders) = $14.
With investment of 5K = # of shares = 5000/14 = ~357 shares
Best selling price = went up to highest $29 per share
So, the best cost basis income = 357 x $29 = ~ $10,357.

Therefore, you analyze now what is the maximum income one could have made from the 5k investment in Snapchat. So, try to understand the realistic market.

which vanguard mutual funds are allowed to trade with low investment? Most of them require 3k, 10k,..so on.

Buy Amd, its just added to S&P 500 and new product Naples has taking it into next level , sooner not later it will hit $20.

Most of the brokerage firms charge commissions, you might like to research on robinhood mobile app. You can buy and sell stock , they do not charge commissions. However, they may not have every facilities that others offer and also charge fees and commissions.

yes. Robinson is just mobile app. i know that. if we pay commission then it's better to hold than to go for short term.

I buy the risky ones, especially the ones with Low Float and mostly biotech stocks.

I currently own CBIO (Catalyst Bioscience ) - - Not for long term investment but i am looking for short term pop - swing trade. It's a very thinly traded stock, so one has to be careful.

Total O/S: only ~ 1M , Float is tiny.

I bought it at $6.35 last week , let's see how it does.
