Nepotism and Favoritism are the main causes of imbalance in representations in the power seats.

Even the most notorious of the other religions point a fugging finger on the four caste system in Hinduism. Just like the Pope and the Vatican presides over the evolution of Christianity beliefs and adaptation to the changing times, there needs to be some kind of congregation like body that oversees how to make our Hindu world keep abreast with the changes, grow sustainably as one nation Nepal and be equally respected like any other religion.

We better get something done about caste prejudices plaguing the nation before all the Vaisyas and Shudras change their religion to something else in masses and leave Hinduism comprising of only Bahun and Chhettris.

News of /Articles on some of such recent incidences are:

No individual human is superior to the others except he/she who has contributed at least something for the betterment of the human race or any other living beings. It is not anything else. Plus we do not need another civil war. Even if there is prosecution/execution etc then that should be entirely based on the deeds of the individual not based on his/her background.

John_Galt

First of all you are just half understandable, and that’s the first characteristic of a boun.
Congrats,

Not only in South Asia the domination of the intellectually superior has existed everywhere in the world. In other words “the survival of the fittest.”. In Hinduism Chanakya (yes the tuppiwal in a hindi TV seria if you were born a khaire bounl) was the first one who said that people who lost their Gotras and are being treated as slaves could also belong to the Aryan Race. Therefore, we might have been showing prejudice to our own people. He could not change anything in his lifetime 2000 years ago. Later a similar argument was made by VikakaNanda.

Having said that someone could claim that it happens only in Eastern civilizations. The answer is no. It was there (present) in Mesopotamia and Egypt as well. Read goldsmith and you would know that it was there in England as well.

Beside yon straggling fence that skirts the way
With blossom'd furze unprofitably gay,
There, in his mansion, skill'd to rule,
The village master taught his little school;
A man severe he was, and stern to view,
I knew him well, and every truant knew;
Well had the boding tremblers learn'd to trace
The days disasters in his morning face;
Full well they laugh'd with counterfeited glee,
At all his jokes, for many a joke had he:
Full well the busy whisper, circling round,
Convey'd the dismal tidings when he frown'd:
Yet he was kind; or if severe in aught,
The love he bore to learning was in fault.
The village all declar'd how much he knew;
'Twas certain he could write, and cipher too:
Lands he could measure, terms and tides presage,
And e'en the story ran that he could gauge.
In arguing too, the person own'd his skill,
For e'en though vanquish'd he could argue still;
While words of learned length and thund'ring sound
Amazed the gazing rustics rang'd around;
And still they gaz'd and still the wonder grew,
That one small head could carry all he knew.
But past is all his fame. The very spot
Where many a time he triumph'd is forgot

To sum up. Please do not think that bouns are the problems. Bouns are just the intellectually superior people and are known as various names around the world. If you want you can define bouns as all the politicians or the business tycoons of the world as well. Therefore my friend, please do not be shamed of what you are.

Bouns will be there till there are people living in the world.

Galt Guru,

Your convoluted commentary on the state of the "brahminism" and being a brahmin in today's world was quite discombobulating, to say the least.

Pompous and rambling text gives the impression that you are more concerned about coming across as someone with an extensive vocabulary than getting your point across effectively.

But, the poignancy of your inner struggle of identifying yourself as a proud brahmin and, in the same breath, accepting some of the grievances attributed to the brahmins, is laudable.

Your drinking ability...a pint (16 oz) at a swig! Wow! My hat's off to you!

Hyde,
Thanks for those priceless links which succintly delibrated everything I painstakingly put forth. But again, in Nepal's context, clash between dalits and superior class is not as pronounced as in the subcontinent. This was an unbiased article that decries two sensitive issues,
1. A group of prejudiced "brahmin"individuals who proclaim their superiority over other castes
2. Yet another group of malcontent individuals who stereoteotype every brahmin as aforementioned.

Danger,
Snicker....I wish I could only find a smiley face. Thought Brahmins were completely understandable the way you went overboard justifying. My friend, I am proud to be a human being...nothing else. And as far as that archiac "darwin theory" goes, te likes of Bill Gates and Warren Buffets would all have been "white Brahmins" inthe land of America.
I respect the fact that you took a lot of pain in replying. Writing is an arduous job and sometimes it is impossible to expatiate under a small time frame and limited megabytes. However, I am sad to say that they keywords I found in your reply were "sterotypical", "ordinary" and "adherence", wish you could see how I tried to defend a few unpredujiced brahmins.

ImI
You almost got me there....I wrote it for humans.

Strangelove,

My dear perfectionist monsieur....I admire your astute analysis. Dare I put forth something in my defense? Some educated clan of readers here at sajha have asked me to escalate my less than ordinary writing style...i sometimes write to make them happy. When you are a cynosure of criticism..it is almsot impossible to find refuge.

I am honored that a replier of you caliber has found my rambling laudable. Besides, I never portrayed myself as a proud Nepali, refer back if you please.

Oh...and since when did smart person like you fall prey to a simple metaphor of getting drunk?

Some educated clan of readers here at sajha have asked me to escalate my less than ordinary writing style...i sometimes write to make them happy.

SO YOU THINK OTHERS ARE ILLITERATE!!! highclass people!!!!!wow..shows your character again!!!the thing that you took 5 hrs to write you contradicted here itself.

you should very well know that better writing is not that is filled with SAT vocabularies but easy going smooth understandable which relates people.which make people connect to your article.

We are not PHDs in English .Have seen good writers like SumOff as well so you don't have to showoff here.You disappoint me .This differentiate between a good writer and nice person!!!!

GALT ..
i always liked your style and i do appreciate your good work in sajah but you are becoming pompous bitaych(:P) and acting and fighting like one with allthe readers.
if not read all your comments above.

ImI,
My apologies, but when I said educated clan...that was a sarcasm.......if only you could comprehend it. I believe in replying back in the similar tongue..if that makes me a lesser person...so be it.

.

It always fascinates me to see how you manage to get so many of the vocabularies in your head while writing! I wish i could, i know i cannot. :_)

We have been born into this realm, where rumors rule, lies defeat and truths are gossip-calibrated.

Not exactly!
And if i don't believe this, i accept that i don't comply with rest of your write-up. I was born into this reality, where rumors ruled but i discarded it, lies/deception defeated but i ignored and passed by it, truths were gossip-calibrated and perhaps i took it for my strength. STILL , i am not a superior human being. what a paradox!

About imbibing in alcohol, promiscuity and all those degradations you mentioned, how relative are they a characteristic to make a judgment on disparate people of the same caste.

However, i agree to the point where you try to disambiguate between the reason for failed "res publica" and many of those bodies, though multiverses on their minds, happening to be labeled similar. I even agree to the fact that every human being is superior by birth, his deeds causes his abasement as he grows up in his universe.

OK GALT , the criticism seems to have been constructive by the end of it. If ever i forget to mention : I appreciate your brainwaves! : )

Danger says:
To sum up. Please do not think that bouns are the problems. Bouns are just the intellectually superior people and are known as various names around the world.

By no means do i agree to the statement, after having said all these! : ) I also happen to be the so-called "boun" !!!

John Galt

You certainly deserve pat on the back as far as your articulate writing and the topics that you choose to write are concerned. I have enjoyed your write-ups but today I have some reservations as well. After going through one of your craftily scripted articles/blogs few weeks ago on the infatuation (or love) you had for this lady from NY, I thought you are one such person who believes in spontaneity rather than appeasing the reader with politically correct statements. But I think this time around you chose a little touchy topic to be politically correct.

“I had always been a proud Nepali who accidentally is a Brahmin” The use of word “accidentally” really did not go well with me. I feel as if you pushed that word in there to be politically correct. I would not delve into Balmiki-era to either vindicate or accuse Brahmins, as this would be way too vague not just for me but even for a crafty writer like you.

“As an enthusiastic believer of fact over fiction, I prefer to believe Mendel over Mahabharata”. I was totally thrown off the track by this statement in particular and couldn’t help recalling an incident that I was involved in when I was in class 12. If I remember it correctly, it was the first unit test and we were sitting for chemistry test that was to be followed by English test on the same day. There was a lady sitting in front of me and just before the test this lady walks up to me and says that we could use each other’s help in the test and I oblige. The test goes well, and as agreed we helped each other. Then comes the English test and this lady tells me that she no longer needs any help, as she is good in English and what not. But what really had me pull my hairs was when she told me that that she had 80-odd in English in SLC and just 40-odd in Nepali. To this date, I have no clue as to why did she say so. Did she mean that her poor Nepali enhanced her English? The whole point is why draw analogy that doesn’t really compare.

Also, I would like to add that if we keep gratifying these Bahun bashers with politically correct statements or with statements demeaning Bahuns than the day is not that far when people would not hesitate in saying a newborn baby belonging to Bahun caste is racist, sexist, and what not. Criticizing Bahuns is not going to help non-Bahuns in any way and vice versa.

I am a Brahmin Nepali and I am every inch proud of it.

"Why can't we all get along?" That's all Rodney King asked for.

I say we can't coz while some people parade their caste and use it as a defense others use the "victim mentality" to cover their mistakes, impotence, and loser self.

But the majority of us, don't care about caste, hopefully over the years everybody will do so and rise above the "caste" and "class" claim.

Am I wishing for the impossible? Only time will tell!

EVERYBODY WANTS TO RULE THE WORLD, I GUESS (Mere Guess).....
At first Kirant bansha, then Licchivi bansha, Shah bansha, now.......

Interesting piece though!!!

I am mostly insensitive to stereotypical allegations. Unfortunately, sometimes they find me sleepless, just because it is so hard for me to express what I feel. Making it even harder is the ear on the other side which is more often a bigot.
Galt,
One more time you left me in awe with so easy flow of thoughts. I wish I could articulate what I have in my mind.
