you should hang out with some american folks.......... stop hanging out with nepalese guys/gals. i am not saying not to hang out with nepalese folks but come on if you wanna learn some spoken english, u gotta hang out with them.

bestway to improve your english is to work in stores(gas stations/mall), where you will get chance to talk with native speaker. I have seen many guys working in gas station , their english is much improved within a year .

The topic should be  " How to get an american accent?"  rather than how to improve the English because I don't believe many Nepalese who have studied to higher Level have bad english.  In many case it is better than American but they don't have an accent.

Afterall, I can understand that no quiro bro must have had a hard time understanding "Gaelic Dialect"... so i had the problem of understanding "Doric Dialect".

Well Gyanguru. I studied in a place with scousers . So I can definitely say even if they are native English speaker, I don't want their English.

Puzzled life- I agree with Alexander that you should hang out more with American folks to improve your English. You are gonna get lot of "What's" but eventually you'll make it. You might have the same accent but they will clearly understand your english. Though you hang out with nepali people in your home/room-mate but try to make American-speaking classmate or other international students and I am pretty sure that will improve your English a lot. Also make a habit of watching English movies instead of dhoti movies. Nothing is impossible in this world. You just gotta put your effort on it.

A Glasgewesian or an Aberdonian speak English but they may be the worst English speaker....

accent is hard to achieve unless you practice 8 hrs a day for couple of months.

My psychology teacher  back home once told me that the best way to be fluent in a language is to think in a language. Once your thoughts are in english, you will be fluent in english. Try to think about what you will say a few ti mes before you say it. I guess tht will help.

1) watch a lot of english movies , programmes, news, listen to talk radio Radio and debates. AND try to remember slangs and accents and comon conversation ways between two Americans like ...you ask .Q: Hey hows it goin buddy?? person answers A: Not much and you?...and you say...A:....I,m allright, can't complain man, you know.      . ............ work on catch phrases and greetings...short ones .that american use when they meet....its easier to start like,  whats up?....Hey there......., whats cookin bro?... Ill catch ya later, see ya, Im all set..... are y'all set?? whats goin on bro..??? kool Kool.  similar catch phrases to get along that everone is familiar here. Then another thing watch the local teams and follow the games and understand it ....good way to start a conversation with anyone...........

No matter where you work you will have American customers and clients so....use your =catch phrases and  greetings to converse with local Americans....and then slowly the rest will follow.........You see bro..got to imerse into the American culture and the language will follow..........But never forget who you are ...PURE NEPALI...OK

I don't think it is necessary to speak in american accent while you stay in usa. The most important thing is good commnunication rather than accent. Although my spoken english is bad in terms of accent but I communicate very well with my co-workers.
