My laptop is virus infected. As soon as i connect to the internet many pages open automatically. It reads Virusremover2008 then it does not let me do anything. But if i disconnect the net then it works as usual. Also a small warning icon appears on the right bottom that also disappears when the internet is disconnected. It was started when I was googling some information. While opening a file it asked me to download something to open it i clicked ok then the problem began. Please tell me how can i figure out and solve this problem. I am getting into trouble because of it as I can not do homework now.

                    You remind me of an old saying, "If a container contains little water it makes a lot of noise." Anyway  there are several options that I've listed down for you.

1. Call you computer manufacturer if you still have warranty (they might be able to fix it for free).
2. Go to Best buy or circuit city (circuit city is filling for bankruptcy they might run away with your PC)
3. Try to Google "computer repairs in  (your city name here)" and you can find people who repair such PC.
4. I would not recommend this but here it is. Go to your manufacturer website and download all the drivers and save it in the disks also you must have a copy of your operating system then you can probably wipe out the entire disk and reinstall everything. But please be sure to BACK UP ALL YOU DATA.

Option 1 is the best thing to do in your case since you wont have to go through technical hassle but take weeks
Option 2 might cost you somewhere around $100 for virus removal or if you are trying to format your computer might cost you $250 +  and takes 3-4 days.
Option 3 might cost you half of option 2 could be 1-2 days
Option 4 wont cost nothing, could be done tonight if you are girl who uses computer besideFacebook, online banking, checking emails and internet.
Option 5 which is not above but you will encounter it as there will be several guys sending you pm to help you fix it asking your email address or phone numbers.

Your computer is infected. Here is one of the few ways to remove the virus and stop it from running.

1. Go to start button

2. Click run and type msconfig (if you are running vista, type msconfig on the box that says start search)

3. Go to services

4. Uncheck all the services that you know for sure are virus and non-essential programs. If you don't know if the services are required, go to http://www.processlibrary.com/ and find out whether or you need it.

5. Do the same thing for the running services on "Start up" tab.

6. Click ok

Restart the computer and follow these steps:

1. Go to start

2. Click control panel

3. Click "Add/Remove Programs"

4. Look for the program that identifies with virus on the list and remove it.

Finally, go to C: and delete the folder associated with virus.

I had my computer infected because i used to watch a lots of porn. There used to be lots of popups sometime really embarassing infront of others. Well, u can backup all ur data then format the computer. buy anti-virus software, costs about $40, scan ur computer then its gonna be fine. Do not download anything for free or do not watch anything for free!! youtube is exception for watching videos.
