Hi Environment,

Well congratulations to both of you, ya it sounds exciting ,

As far as i know Post-Docs are more of faculties rather than students, so she will probably hold a H1B visa status.

Some colleges provide in-state tuition or resident tuition to the spouse of the graduate students holding a GA/RA position or thier faculties and staffs. It depends more on the University policies and procedures, So I hope u will be eligible for those benefits but i will suggest you to check with the college.

Good Luck !!!

Environment,

Ya, it depends on the university policies and procedures, its not same across USA.

I repeat, most colleges offer resident tuition to spouse of a graduate student(MS,PhD) who holds Research Assistant or Graduate Assistant Position. Regarding the spouse of H1B, they are not allowed to work unless they change to a different visa status. But if you are a student already then you wont need to change to dependent status , just show some proof of relationship and you might end up paying resident tuition only.
