I would strongly suggest not to go to Nepal during OPT. If you had H1B, your case would be different. If you have just an OPT then they might reject your visa right away. Just think the scenario, why are they going to give you visa as you have no intention to study and returning back and I doubt they will give you visa to work in OPT. As you came here to study and you did graduate already. They might not let you come again unless you are going to school again. Just Be Careful. One of my friend had same situation and he went back to Nepal. He got rejected twice but again he applied for PhD and got I-20. So, they gave him visa again. This is Just my personal view as of my experience.

You didn't mention if you current passport or F1 visa is expired. If you are in F1 visa and is not expired, you don't need visa to come back again. You can easily go and come back to US on the existing visa if you have job. Only u need to show ur job verifications documents and signed I-20s at the immigration point during return. In this case, its better if your visa or passport is valid for at least 6 months more at the time u plan to return. But if your passport or F1 visa is already expired then you need to apply for visa and you may have some difficulty in getting visa. In this case better to go back Nepal once you are in H1.

You cannot travel Nepal on OPT if you do not have a current F1 visa period.. (provided that you have intention of returning to United States)

Guys, he ( Assumption from the fact that his nick is ...kta) is asking what are the documents he need to present @ the embassy. I would assume that he doesn't have valid F-1 visa stamped on his passport. Under this condition he is advised not to go Nepal if he intends to return USA. Nepal1kta, Please, mention what the expiration of your F-1 visa on your Passport is. If it is not expired you are good to go. Otherwise, you won't be able to obtain a F-1 visa on return from Nepal when you show your OPT card and job offer @ the embassy. You can talk with your international student office personnel too.
