Bindesh ji, Give me just one reason that makes BP one of the the greatest South Asian Leaders. I will be happy to vote for him. If he is not one of the greatest leaders, then it doesn't make sense for us to go on a voting spree and make him of one of the greatest ? As of now, I think BP was nowhere close to Nehru, Randhakrishnan and Rajendra Prasad in knowledge, Gandhi in persuassion, Bhutto in democratizing, JInnah in statesmanship. Maybe I read all the wrong books by those reactionary regressive elements who skip BPs contributions to Nepal and South Asia. So name me one good credible international publication that tells me why I should be voting for BP instead of other qualified leaders, I'd be glad to vote for our own "mahan -neta".

You should vote for BP Koirala because he gave Nepali people the greatest treasure, that is his Nepali Congress party.

Is Nepali Congress the greatest treasure for Nepali people? I am sorry, I beg to differ with you. Obviously a matter of considerable magnitude, but greatest treasure to Nepali people is yet to be delivered; peace, freedom, security, equality and so forth, which by birth should be our right, but if not, someday nepali people would unite to give themselves these GREATEST TREASURES. Until that day lets contribute in whatever way we can, IndisGuise:)

Indisguise, U need to understand the hidden part. What I meant was BP and his grp. started this Pratha of cronyism, nepotism and whatever - when he became the PM in 2016-17 saal, which forced Mahendra to take over the reigns. Becos of Nepali Congress and their short-sighted, immoral, corrupt leaders we Nepali people have suffered so much, still we consider them as our national treasures. We bring them to power. We worship them. It's a SHAME. Where is King Tribhuvan's name? Was he not the greatest leader of Nepal?

Pade Queen, I am sorry I could not see the hidden sarcasm behind your statement. Perhaps you are right about it. :) But I am solly I would not agree with Tribhuvan either ehehe :p, coz me thinks Nepal did not/ does not have had any great leader/s at any point of our history to compete with 90% of the leaders mentioned in the race. Well perhaps Prithivi Narayan could be termed as leader, if not anything, for uniting nepal ( even though Bahadur shah United most of Nepal, (Ho ki ke ho) ) and in that sense protecting the integrity and uniqueness of Nepalese from being COMPLETELY taken over by neighbouring country. Jai Nepal IndisGuise:)

"Nepal's first democratically elected prime minister, taking office in 1959. In 1951 he had led a popular revolt which overthrew the Rana oligarchy which ruled Nepal. In 1960, he was jailed by King Birendra who banned all political activity and assumed absolute power." King Birendra jailed BP? That itself is a news to me.. eheh. I'm with IsoFreak this time... ;) 20 years from now, BBC might have another "SA greatest leader" poll with Girija's name in it. eh.. -- "Nepal's longest serving prime minister after 1990 revolution" bhanera... aaah, gimme a break.... :)

how can BP koirala be termed as the greatest leader of south asia ? there have been leaders, as mentioned above by other sajhaites in south asia, that have had a bigger role in democratizing countries or decolonising countries. With all due respect, BP Koirala doesn't even come close. Frankly speaking, BP koirala was not a very good independent leader.. lets face it, he did suck upto king mahendra at all times, good friends with his wife and all ... is that wat a democracy loving, dictatorship hating leader does ... and what happened ? he got SCREWED ? by whom other than King Mahendra himself, so hey, i really dont think he was a great leader. He had a big hand in nepal becoming a democratic state, and i respect him for that, but that isn't good enuf to win him the greatest leader of south asia award.

Indisguise, You might not agree with me, but from what I know Tribhuvan was a great leader, a nice and gentle human being. If he had not died suddenly we might have seen a different, better Nepal. However, he had his own short-comings. Like, he was partial towards Matrika Prasad. I think this BP is the greatest leader, BP highway, BP hospitals, BP Salik are part of a GRAND DESIGN. There are hundreds, maybe thousands of sychophants, who were at one time given favor by the Nepali Congress and are hoping that Girija will come to power again - they write almost everyday in varius papers - BP DESH BACHAU. BP THE ONLY VISIONARY LEADER. Like one Keshav Poudel, of Spotlight - one week he wrote on BP THE GREAT LEADER, the next week he wrote KRISHA PRASAD BHATTARRAI - MAN OF INTEGRITY, then the next week was GP KOIRALA -the GREAT LEADER. What a BHADA KO TATTU THIS GUY IS. At the end of all this we have a legend called BP who saved Nepal from the Ranas, and what not.

GRAND DESIGN - this phrase reminds me of "GI -ri-ja" chor baje's statement refering to "Royal Massacre" back in the days. Always refering to that as GRAND DESIGN and promising to do " PARDA FASH" at appropriate time. LOL. Moda Fawka is almost there ( about to die) but still he does not do Parda Fash. Anyways, me thinks he does not know bullshit ( or any more than what considerable no. of ppl knows). But then again this leech looked like he is about to die from almost a decade back, but is still goin strong and still harbouring the dream of being elected as NC president (which is beyond the authorized term) and consequently Primie Minister. Kasaile mare ni hunthio ni Jatha lai. Ma kehi $$$ rakhna tayaar chu assaination ko lagi and I bet there would thousands more coming for this GREAT cause. Jai Nepal IndisGuise:)

There is no great Nepali leader born so far. Period! Prithvi was a murderer who murdered many people in Kirtipur, cut the breasts of many women in Kirtipur, cut off the penis of many men from Kirtipur after conquering Kirtipur upon his third assault. This history you donot read in our current textbooks, you hear it from your grandpa and grandma, especially from Kirtipur. The Gorkhalis have made sure this truth is never written down, ever! The Shah dynasties do not even come close to the previous ones of the valley when we talk about the greatness of our leaders, for that matter. About BP, c'ck-sucker you guys have said enough! Astu! Guys! Please don't argue any more talking our history. We need to think about "better Nepal." You know mankind always does mistake, but needs to learn hard lesion and moves on to better time. let's shout together "we need a peaceful Nepal." Democracy is not a guddiya or football that any body comes to power and kicks. We need to teach about the worth and value of democracy. we have to warn our uneducated political leaders not to mislead the rule of democracy, to misguide and to abuse of the advantages of democracy.
