Hi,

I am planning a trip to Puerto Rico in August and I am currently working in the US with an OPT. My OPT expires mid-July and my F1 visa has already expired. My work has sent in the application for a H1B visa but the status of that application is currently pending. I have other state issued IDs like Driver's license and State ID but they all bear a sign saying valid until July15 (when my OPT expires). I am still a legal resident and will be during the duration of my trip as I will be under the 2 month grace period from my OPT. However, since I will not have a valid VISA, will it be an issue for me when I travel?

( INA, Section 101(b)(5))

2.G. Do I need a valid visa to visit Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands, or the Northern Mariana Islands?
No, unless your travel plans include entry to any other country en route to these U.S. territories. You will need a valid Form I-20 and a valid unexpired Form I-94. Be sure that you do not have a terminated SEVIS record indicating that you are out of status.

Gud luck
