I need a serious help! Guys pls suggest me. This was my last semester in college and didn't realize my I 20 was expired. It's almost 2 month. I have been attending class regularly. I talked with adviser and he told that he has requested for renewing it and need a week to reply. Now I am so tensed. Is it gonna be big problem or it's going not to be hard for reinstating. Need suggestion pls help!!!!

 consult immigration lawyer. I dont think they charge for yes/no questions unless paperwork is involved.

 you need to talk to your international adviser and tell the reason your i-20 got expired. as a matter of fact, your international admissions office should have sent you a mail or e-mail at least a month before it got expired. it could be possible you didn't notice that. also, you can still reinstate and the probability of reinstating is lot better if you've beein maintaining your status by taking minimum 12 credits, good GPA etc. Also have good reasons for i-20 expiration. you shouldn't worry if you meet all these requirements. your international adviser should help you out with the process. you also, need to write a letter stating the reason behind your i-20 expiration when you reinstate.

If it helps, mine was reinstated easily but that was way back. You should wait atleast a week to hear back from the adviser; then if things don't look good contact an immigration lawyer. I wouldn't loose my sleep over it if I were you.

My friend had similar situation. He talked with the advisor, but she did not help. She said to pay 300 something dollors to re instate. But my friend went and talked with the president of the school. The presodent told advisor to fix it. So it was fixed and didnt have to pay. Make sure u go to talk to your advisor very beginning of the sems.

i am really so nervous your suggestions really helped me to calm down. 
if they will reinstate me instantly then there is no problem. but i have one problem. i had skipped a semester but had informed international adviser because of my health issues. i had submitted the doctor note as adviser had advised me to do that. but it was 2 years ago. otherwise everything was good. i am full time student havent worked in social security and maintaining GPA too. now i am feeling little scared about that thing. i hope it will not affect me now.

shall i take immigration lawyer or i can do all those paper by myself?
please kindly suggest me.

I am also on the same boat dude. I am having same problem doing reinstate. Just hired a lawyer rest on there hand. Hoping for positive response......!

 archu9, you are also in same situation? so international adviser suggested you to hire a lawyer? were you attending college or what happened? how much time probably it will take to get response. please reply.
