The claims made by Secretary of State John Kerry on Monday have been reported by many media outlets. Virtually none though are challenging the claims made by Sec. Kerry to the nation. Claims that are false.
Kerry, gave prepared remarks on Monday, explaining why the Obama Administration believes they must intervene in Syria. Kerry referenced the use of chemical weapons calling the use “a moral obscenity”, “inexcusable” and “undeniable”.
“What we saw in Syria last week should shock the conscience of the world. It defies any code of morality. Let me be clear: The indiscriminate slaughter of civilians, the killing of women and children and innocent bystanders, by chemical weapons is a moral obscenity. By any standard it is inexcusable, and despite the excuses and equivocations that some have manufactured, it is undeniable.” said Sec. of State Kerry
The Secretary of State went on to say “I also want to underscore that while investigators are gathering additional evidence on the ground, our understanding of what has already happened in Syria is grounded in facts informed by conscience and guided by common sense.”
So to be clear, Sec. Kerry says that even though U.N. investigators had only been on the scene less than 24 hours, the Administration’s collective mind has been made up. Chemical weapons were used. What’s more, the use of those weapons, Kerry says can be traced back only to the Syrian government.
“Moreover, we know that the Syrian regime maintains custody of these chemical weapons. We know that the Syrian regime has the capacity to do this with rockets. We know that the regime has been determined to clear the opposition from those very places where the attacks took place. And with our own eyes, we have all of us become witnesses.
We have additional information about this attack, and that information is being compiled and reviewed together with our partners, and we will provide that information in the days ahead.”
As we reported yesterday, however the inference that only Syria possesses chemical weapons is flatly untrue. In May of this year, Turkish military seized 2kg of sarin from “rebel” fighters from al Nusra Front. As we have extensively reported, al Nusra is the largest, best funded and most organized opposition force to the Assad regime. On May 30, 2013 when Turkish security forces arrested those 12 members of al Nusra Front, they found not only the 2kgs of sarin but those authorities went on to say that the sarin was going to be used in a bomb.
In Secretary of State Kerry’s address on Monday, he pointed out that the “evidence” against the Syrian government included YouTube videos he had watched of the victims. Too bad while scanning YouTube for evidence Sec. Kerry didn’t do a simple Google search of the words “al Nusra Front sarin gas”. Had he done so, he would have known that his claims of only the Syrian government possessing chemical weapons is not only untrue but easily disproved.
That however, didn’t seem to be of much concern considering that no major media have pointed out this fact despite such incredible claims from the Secretary of State. Rather than simply repeat over and over the claims by Kerry to the American people, why aren’t media fact checking him?

apart from political game what I can say is if the chimical was used to attack they are not
1. Sulphur mustard, Nitrogen Mustard , lewisite and phosphorous oxime, Because they are produce blister ( agoo le pole ra niklane panii ko foka jasto) . At leaset I dont see any blister on the body of the ppl suffering from attack.
2. The chemical is very unlikely VX (highly toxic chemical usedas chemical weapons) . Because VX causes very severe sivering and immidiate death. even at very l;ow concentration. Besides USA knowes which chemical wepaons Syria has. VX is difficult to produce and because of its high toxicity difficult to store.
3. Looking at the ppl who are said to be suffering from attack it does not look like sarine,( commonly used chemical weapon) and easy to produce. Japanese cult Aum shinorikyo produced it and used in Tokyo subway station in Japan in 1995. Because no running nose ( Ryal, sigan)
But the pupil were dilated which is one of the many sign of the organophorous chemical weapons. Sarine is also a voltaile chemical in summer it will be evaporated quickly.
dilation of the pupil can be caused by many toxic chemicals, these chemicals can be packed in rocket and fired at. This is summer so any chemical will evaporated immidiately.
Now UN Inspectors have collected soil sample and probbaly blood sample too, which could be naanlysed in lab to find out the chemical.

well.. I saw those sufferers with excessive saliva , non-stop jerking and poor souls.. couldn't even yell a word out
of suffocation/pain. And it was obvious that they used highly neurotoxic chemicals which as many believed are only
within regimes access.
BUT, ...
if you check this video below, rebels been practicing to kill ppl, I mean what can you expect from these demons who
pulls out lungs, hearts and eat out of vengeance. And They do have access to these chemical weaponry.
This video surfaced last year and someone re-uploaded recently after that attack, here they show gassing out
poor rabbits.

Yeah don't make sense, supporting rebels who were 9/11 attackers. Further Iran and Hezbollah is supporting Assad regime which means deadly war against allies. May be a WWIII.

If Assad didn't use the chemical weapons, why the heck he didn't allow UN inspector to investigate it on the first place. They were granted access only after five days. A lot can be modified on 5 days. But whoever used those chemical weapons must be hanged to death.

Bittertruth,
Shivvering because of chemical weapons will bedifferent than jerking as shown in many videos. They were shocked, pupils were dilated, but that can happend from many chemicals not the Chemical weapons as world understands, in one or two videos salivation is there but in many there is not so that rules out the possibilty of chemicals weapons. because , if it was Sarin, VX, salivation will be intense, Also jerking does not qualify for symptoms of chemical weapons. there will be almost non stop salivation and tears.
Shivering will be like when flies shivvers before dying when sprayed some organophosphorous chemicals,
The only pronounced evidence is dilation of pupil. which in turn also can happen from several other chemicals, not only from cheimical weapons.

It is not what I think, it is what visual evidence available suggest. To say anything concret we need undisputable evidence.
The visual evidence available in public media suggest a higher level of doubt about the use of chemical weapons.
It may be any other industrial toxic chemical which is capable of producing death and similar effect. There are many industrail chemicals
whose symptoms can be easily confused with taht of chemical wepans.
Now I am counting on the analysis of the sample collected by UN Inspectors. In the blood of the victims there will be metabolites of chemical wepans used. Similary on soil too. In TV they were showing the container (metallic body) weapns that was fired.analysis of swap sample from those metallic body will also help finding the type of chemical used.
I hope UN experst will use their knowledge in fullest. Sometime pseudo expert can produce different results.

@OP,
Which big 5 ?
Russia is against it
China is against it
Uk's Parliament voted today against British involvement
What option US has ?
PPl are against another war
PPl are afrais of another economic slowdown in US, if it enetrs into war with Sirya.
Limited missile strike is most probable but that will weaken Asad regime and if it fell down, The Chemical wepons stockpile may fall in the hand of Al quaida.
There is Bombing in Iraq everyday, almost 50 ppl dying everyday because of bombing. Libiya is in turmoil, US Ambassador was killed by terrorist.
If US strikes Siriya and Asad regime falls . There is a chance that Siriyan stockpile of Chemical weapons will fall in the hands of terrorist. Is US is ready to take that chance ?

It's beginning to look like US' unilateral campaign to find cause for war. Just like iraq and libya, suddenly there is no mention of what assad is saying. He is put put on mute by the media. Can someone care to put assad's statement on current affairs after being accused of using chemical weapons? I think it is justified for him to make a public statement that the US media should have the responsibility of publishing. It's interesting that all of a sudden there is an eerie media blackout.

John Kerry’s War: Syrian Strike Means Big Money for lawmakers
4 hours ago | International, Politics, US | Posted by Joshua Cook
The Department of Defense’s missile and munitions budget is $9.2 billion so a missile strike on Syria means a big payout for defense companies like Raytheon and Boeing.
According to DefenseNews.com, the planned Syria strike wouldn’t be cheap. “A cruise missile strike against Syria could cost the Pentagon hundreds of millions of dollars in weapons,” according to experts and government documents.
A report by the Department of Defense states that the unit cost of a Tomahawk tactical missile costs $1.5 million.
Barak Obama, the Nobel Peace prize winning president just added the Syrian people to his kill list this summer and it is a defense contractor’s dream come true. Wall Street has rewarded their lobbying efforts with a positive uptick.
For example, according to Reuters, Raytheon generates more of its revenues overseas than any other large U.S. weapons maker. It has forecast a 20-percent increase in foreign bookings in 2013.
Congress loves the defense industry too because of their lobbying efforts and campaign contributions.
The defense sector’s biggest companies include Center for Responsive Politics “Heavy Hitters” Lockheed Martin, Boeing and General Dynamics, as well as Northrop Grumman and Raytheon.
One of the major recipients of the defense sector campaign contributions went to Sen. John Kerry (D) who was confirmed Secretary of State on Jan 29, 2013.
Recently, Kerry went to the Middle East and praised a $2.1 billion Raytheon deal in Oman.
Kerry thanked them for their decision to buy the ground-based air defense system from the Massachusetts company. “We’re very excited about that and very grateful for your confidence in Raytheon,” Kerry said.
According to Reuters, “an official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the $2.1 billion deal included these elements – which are being funded with the help of U.S. government financing – as well as other items that Oman is buying directly from the arms maker.”
On January 8, 2013, Kerry pledged to sell stocks that would be considered a conflict of interest. This included his Raytheon stock. See document
However, according to Legistorm.com, Kerry’s most recent statement does not list Raytheon shares as being sold according to the February 8, 2013 financial disclosure. See document here.
The U.S. Office of Government Ethics (OGE) certifies that government officials comply with these pledges, however, no report on Kerry has been published on their website. No one from the OGE has responded to our request as of this publication to show proof that he sold those particular stocks.
The Middle East crisis means lucrative business opportunities for defense contractors, and the demand never seems to end.
The U.S. taxpayer gives $50 billion dollars to foreign aid a year and most of this goes into the pockets of defense contractors who in return fund both political Parties in America through aggressive lobbying efforts.
For the rest of world, the real “shock and awe” is observing the indifference of Americans who lack the courage and political will to end this vicious cycle.

This is contextual
President Obama announced this weekend that he has decided to use military force against Syria and would seek authorization from Congress when it returned from its August break. Every Member ought to vote against this reckless and immoral use of the US military. But even if every single Member and Senator votes for another war, it will not make this terrible idea any better because some sort of nod is given to the Constitution along the way. Besides, the president made it clear that Congressional authorization is superfluous, asserting falsely that he has the authority to act on his own with or without Congress. That Congress allows itself to be treated as window dressing by the imperial president is just astonishing.
The President on Saturday claimed that the alleged chemical attack in Syria on August 21 presented "a serious danger to our national security." I disagree with the idea that every conflict, every dictator, and every insurgency everywhere in the world is somehow critical to our national security. That is the thinking of an empire, not a republic. It is the kind of thinking that this president shares with his predecessor and it is bankrupting us and destroying our liberties here at home.
According to recent media reports, the military does not have enough money to attack Syria and would have to go to Congress for a supplemental appropriation to carry out the strikes. It seems our empire is at the end of its financial rope. The limited strikes that the president has called for in Syria would cost the US in the hundreds of millions of dollars. Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Martin Dempsey wrote to Congress last month that just the training of Syrian rebels and "limited" missile and air strikes would cost "in the billions" of dollars. We should clearly understand what another war will do to the US economy, not to mention the effects of additional unknown costs such as a spike in fuel costs as oil skyrockets.
I agree that any chemical attack, particularly one that kills civilians, is horrible and horrendous. All deaths in war and violence are terrible and should be condemned. But why are a few hundred killed by chemical attack any worse or more deserving of US bombs than the 100,000 already killed in the conflict? Why do these few hundred allegedly killed by Assad count any more than the estimated 1,000 Christians in Syria killed by US allies on the other side? Why is it any worse to be killed by poison gas than to have your head chopped off by the US allied radical Islamists, as has happened to a number of Christian priests and bishops in Syria?
For that matter, why are the few hundred civilians killed in Syria by a chemical weapon any worse than the 2000-3000 who have been killed by Obama's drone strikes in Pakistan? Does it really make a difference whether a civilian is killed by poison gas or by drone missile or dull knife?
In "The Sociology of Imperialism," Joseph Schumpeter wrote of the Roman Empire's suicidal interventionism: "There was no corner of the known world where some interest was not alleged to be in danger or under actual attack. If the interests were not Roman, they were those of Rome's allies; and if Rome had no allies, then allies would be invented. When it was utterly impossible to contrive an interest - why, then it was the national honour that had been insulted." Sadly, this sounds like a summary of Obama's speech over the weekend. We are rapidly headed for the same collapse as the Roman Empire if we continue down the president's war path. What we desperately need is an overwhelming Congressional rejection of the president's war authorization. Even a favorable vote, however, cannot change the fact that this is a self-destructive and immoral policy.
