PITTSFIELD (CBS/AP) — A Somerville teenager charged with the broomstick rape of a younger teen at a sports camp in the Berkshires has been released on $100,000 bail.
Seventeen-year-old Galileo Mondol appeared in court at a dangerousness hearing Friday in Pittsfield and was later released.
Mondol’s attorney, William Korman, says he has been ordered to stay away from the victims and witnesses, withdraw from Somerville High School, follow an 11p.m. curfew and surrender his passport.
Prosecutors say Mondol is one of three Somerville High School soccer players charged in connection with the alleged assault Aug. 25 in a cabin at Camp Lenox in Otis. The names of the others have not been made public because they are 16.
Prosecutors say the teens raped one freshman with a broom and tried to rape two others.
Mondol pleaded not guilty September 3.
Kormon claims Mondol had nothing to do with the alleged assault.
