The Communist government first gave out a figure that 10 arab had been spent in corona control. People were surprised. How come? The opposition parties asked for transparency and detail. The PM said, “Just focus on the pandemic for now, and don’t ask for expense detail.”

When the lockdown was imposed, it was without preparation, proper warning or a result of precaution because, despite the virus spreading, Chinese tourists were coming in 6 international flights every day. So, when a surprise lockdown was announced, many people were locked in. It was a bad way to enact something so severe.

Following the lockdown in India, millions of Nepalese working there suddenly lost their jobs and headed home. When they walked for weeks and finally approached the border on their way to their homes, the government stance was, “No entry.”

All these events are consistent with Communist, authoritarian character. There is nothing different to expect other than what the government has done. It is only Nepalese who have not understood the records of Communist governments around the world. So it was similar to handing over the house key to go on vacation, but to the neighbor who has pilfering habit.

Communist in itself is a character trait that seeks totalitarian control. There was a time when there were two camps in the world opposed to each other in the power struggle to lead the world. The U.S. led the “free” world, which basically meant political democracy and an economic free market.  On the surface, people were free. In the beginning that was quite the case. But with the advent of the internet and mobile technology, freedom is “apparent” only. There is no democracy either, so to speak that adheres to the true principals of freedom and people’s rule. It has become total corporate cracy and it is the government of the rich.

In Communism, there is no right for the people, no freedom, no property rights or no rights to representation. The Soviet Union, China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Cuba, North Korea and former Eastern bloc countries were known as the Second World because they were in opposition to the free world, the First World. All over the world, the Communists have met severe failures. Both North Korea and Cuba are known to be Communists but they have a dynastic rule.  It was believed that Communists would work for the benefit of the workers, and they would live in a just society that would be an ideal construct. The only problem was that nothing in nature is equal. So in Communists, those who went to govern became entrenched in power and luxury.  This is where that famous quote applied, “Everybody is equal, but some are more equal.”

There is one thing Communist governments have been noted for, killing of its population. In the list, the top two countries are China (73,237,000) and USSR (58,627,000). Even in the smaller countries like Cambodia and Vietnam, the figures are respectively, 2,627,000 and 1,670,000. The total tally of Communist regimes killing their citizens stand at 149,469,610. It is not even complete.

Communists do not like challenges to their authority, and no one can criticize their actions. It is evident even in China now. Nepal’s Communists have displayed the same trait because it goes with the territory. Criticism of anyone in the leadership or the party is labeled as “enemy of the republic.” Voices are silenced. After the famous case of banning the song “Lootna sake loot kanchha,” recently Nepal’s former cricket captain removed his Twitter post that mocked the PM’s statement. He refused to say the reason. Even the president of the U.S. is a target of daily ridicule and criticism, but not so in Nepal. They are beyond reproach, they are almost God.

Home is everyone’s safest place of retreat and recuperation. People, even the most decrepit ones, desire to die amidst their own family and in their own home. That is why millions withstood all the hardship on the way to get home to Nepal, but without much concern for their fundamental rights, the government just said “NO.” Because in Communism there is no such thing as property rights and there is no such thing as a discussion about any issues. It is always a small politburo at the top that makes the decision from the center. That is the true nature of Communism.

Any caring government would have recognized the feelings and sentiments of people fleeing and facing death. There would have been assurance to people that they have the right to be in their own homes, but because of the nature of the pandemic, some measures would have to be taken and procedure could have been laid out. People would have been assuaged in that way. But being Communists authoritarians, they just spelled out their decrees.

In the matter of the 10 arba spent as told by the PM, they finally acquiesced and gave the detail but only for 8 arba. Hence the Annapurna post asked, What about the other 2 arba? Even in the budget, they have a special fund for individual politicians like the president, who can play with 6 arba in the name of education.

So, if there is any fault for Nepal’s miserable condition and the need to flee the country for any opportunities, then it is the failure of Nepalese population to understand what true historical precedence has been of this political philosophy that is based on materialism as much as capitalist countries. Getting elected is not in their system of ascendance power. In fact, the very notion that Communist participation in the election is a farce. People have seen what happens if they get to power. It is constant propaganda and non-stop corruption, even in the dire situation we face now.
