Can anyone please tell me, how long does it take to get Student Visa processed in Nepal? My cousin is accepted in a college and already has I-20 from it. He is wait listed in his first choice which will be decided soon any day. Any suggestion on how long should he wait? If he apply Visa later, will it deminish his chances?

If he/she has gotten his I-20 under no curcumstance he/she should wait and see for the perfect time........he/she should apply for F1 visa immediately. If the visa officer rejects in the first instance he/she should not even give a f** about it and give a F*** to the visa officer, delay the enrollment until succeeding semester, get a revised I-20 and apply for the visa after 3 months once again. This time it will be a breeze. That's axactly how I got student visa, travelled to the US, went to school in Michigan. Moved to Canada and settled here in Canada.

hello aakash, answer to your question is yes if you have four year or five year bachelor's degree. suppose if you study engineering, medicine, agriculture science, architecture, forestry, they all ahve four year or five hear bachelor degree in nepal, so you can easily aply for masters program here in usa. i did my bachelor from nepal and recently completed my masters from usa. if you have 3 year bachelor degree, then either you should do masters and apply here for masters program or you can transfer your credits from nepal and complete your bachelor's degree. however to complete bahcelor degree with such transfer creidts takes from 1 year to 3 yrs depending upon the college and how many credits you can transfer. bindesh, it is august 3rd today. generally it is better to apply visa about a month before your orientation class. even if visa is rejected, one can get another chance to reapply. if your cousin has such preference , then it is better to wait, as you said he is getting his other I 20 in just 2-3 days time. if his class starts at the end of august, he still has sufficient time.

well aakash, if your university has accepted you in masters program then you should be fine. as it is mentioned in your I 20, you have to complete those 20 credits of prerequisites. i would say you are lucky if you could join masters program just completing those 20 credits. go for it. good luck.
