BBC is doing an online poll on South Asia's greatest ever leader.

Who do you consider to be the most important leader in South Asia in modern times?

There are 16 famous names to choose from. If you don't like any of them, vote for 'none of these'.

Many of you will probably have good reasons to disagree with some of the 16 names in a list which, in the end, comes down to individuals' opinions.

So we also want you to send your views on the candidates and tell us who else you would have included.

Poor BP ( and reciprocally GP)!
These online services -- the more objective the better I think. I know there are many folks out there from other countries asking for vote like you, but it should not be the sole reason to vote for your native indivudal. I personally think they are doing injustice to the services and the would-be man of the year etc.

If BP had been so good, your lip service would have been unnecessary to bring him to prominence.. they'd have become famous by themselves.

Let us see how BP fairs, shall we?

Nobody (with the exception late singer Arun Thapa's friends) takes the results of these BBC Internet polls seriously.

But, hey, that doesn't mean that we should noit have some harmless, patriotic
and easy fun, when times are tough in Nepal and the only headlines Nepal gets
are for mass murders, strikes and quarrelling politicians.

That's why, in these festive times, putting aside your personal love or hatred for
BP, and also putting aside the finer points of whether he was a great leader or a
khattam neta, VOTE for him . . . simply because, well, he is the ONLY one Nepali
who's on that list.

Let's come together to help make a fellow Nepali a great leader of South Asia, while fully knowing that no history books will be re-written based on the results of these polls.

In a way you are thinking of having fun but you may be patriotic. You know that BP could have actually become a great PM.. he had a chance but did not or could not use the opportunity. Instead of doing any good thing for Nepal, I recall he was involved in selling Koshi to India (correct me with facts if I'm wrong).

If you just want to have fun, no problem. Otherwise, an extrapolation of your argument should convince you that You might as well then want to vote for Prachanda... he is a Nepali too.

I'm not voting for GP or BP or MP or any Thapa or Mapa or anybody for that matter unless we are talking about MahaKavi Laxmi Prasad in literature.

So Muhammad Ali Jinha's the greatest South Asian, eh gang?
