Dude, that is really an outrageous price for student health insurance. My employer pays about $ 5000 annually for me, wife and the kid. I know for fact that my benefits are far better than student health insurance benefits. Shop around, I’m sure you will find a better deal. Just google it. I am guessing, you should be able to find something around $3000.

Get one with high deductible and low coverage. It will be a lot cheaper. But again, you don't want something with very high deductible and very low coverage. That, you wil have to figure out for yourself.

Luture, Be happy and smile now! Coz i'm about to tell you something that would slash your $8,500 a year to may be upto $1500 a year. That's rite. And within two weeks you would be mailed an insuranc ID card and you can use that as a proff of insurance. Aight my friend are you ready? If so the scroll down . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . YOu need to scroll down more faster. You are quite slow. . . . . . . . . . . .. . .. . . . . . Aight i'm stop it(lol, sori for that humour hope you dont mind.). GO to www.isoa.org and then pick the appropriate plan and the coverage you prefer and that's it brother man. Your done. Good luck.

UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE is the solution guys. I have been robbed a lot of times in past by hospitals and insurance companies. I am just tired of their last minute "U don't have that coverage" game man. I have a life and don't have time to read their 500 pages of policies and coverage. I am sick of thier games man. I'd rather be robbed by buglers, atleast i have a chance to punch them.

Luture, I had the same situation while I was at my graduate student. I know how you are feeling. I had my inurance through university and we bought insurance for my wife and kids through Blueshield Bluecross. That was about $300 a month. Alltogether, we used to pay about $450, I thought which is better than what you have to pay now. Good-luck
