UDAYAPUR, MAY 05 -
An unidentified group of miscreants on Tuesday night attacked the
Nunthala police post in Khotang district in eastern Nepal and fled with
as many as 11 weapons. Right afterwards, 11 police personnel from the
station went out of contact.The Zonal Police Office, Rajbiraj, said 12 armed men attacked the post
and looted five rifles, five 303 rifles and a Chinese pistol. The
attackers also looted 500 rounds of ammunition.
Senior Superintendent of Police Keshari Raj ghimire said the zonal
office has been informed of the attack. The police are yet to have a
detailed report on the incident, he said.According to the zonal office, 11 security personnel were stationed at
the post under an Assistant Sub-Inspector.
"We could not have a detailed information of the attack as the police
post in-charge and other personnel are out of contact," Ghimire said. He added that their efforts to contact the in-charge on his mobile
phone failed. Ghimire said a police team from the sitrict police office,
khotang, has been sent to the area under DSP Tek Bahadur Tamang.
The site is about a three-hour walk from Khotang district headquarters,
Diktel.
